ERNACT  - European Regions Network for the Application of Communications Technology  

ERNACT  - European Regions Network for the Application of Communications Technology  is an European network founded in 1990 with the mission to build the next generation of infrastructure and ICT services (Information and Communications Technology) - a generation necessary to support the development of public services, social solidarity and employment. The Network aims to promote the economy based on knowledge and the information society in the partner regions, especially by developing and implementing cross-border, inter-regional and transnational projects for helping to define regional development models based on ICT. The network consists of local and regional authorities from 7 European regions.

West Region is member of the European Regions Network for the Application of Communications Technology - ERNACT starting January 2012.

In partnership ERNACT, West RDA implemented the CO2FREE project, funded by INTERREG IVC program. The project aimed at providing specific tools for addressing the concepts of energy efficiency and sustainable transport and defining action plans in order to implement within the partner regions measures that lead to the achievement of European standards in terms of energy consumption, energy efficiency and use of renewable energy resources.

West RDA facilitated the cooperation between ERNACT members and the representatives of the ICT sector in the West Region Romania within the Regional Innovation Fair, InnoMatch, which took place during April 3^rd-4^th 2013, and the annual meeting of ERNACT hosted by West RDA in Timisoara on March 12 - 13, 2013.

The areas of interest for ERNACT in the next period, aim to support partner regions through the development and implementation of collaborative projects using financial instruments of the European Commission (e.g. Horizon 2020) for the development, implementation and dissemination of information technology solutions for economic and social development, focusing on the priority areas of the EU Digital Agenda of the European Union. Also, the correlation of ICT development priorities of smart specialization strategies in the partner regions and establish collaborative partnerships with other European regions, and organizations in the Atlantic.
