Life - long training and RDI infrastructure

The educational environment enjoys a long tradition in the West Region, offering multiple qualification opportunities for the local workforce. The region's multiculturalism, translated into a long tradition of high school education in other native languages than Romanian (German, Hungarian, Serbian, Croatian, Slovakian), added to the presence of many high schools where students are taught in foreign languages (English, French, Spanish), may form a competitive advantage for the companies that choose to trade here.

The technical education, the research & development infrastructure, and the quality of the academic education are further strengths. With its eight universities (four state-owned and four private), the academic centre of Timisoara is one of the foremost academic poles in Romania. The academic education is also well represented in the cities of Arad, Resita, Deva, Lugoj, Petrosani, and Hunedoara.

Adult training capacity in the West Region

According to the Official Register of the National Council for Adult Vocational Training, there are 673 licensed providers of adult vocational training services in the West Region (2013). Most trainers are in the counties of Hunedoara (260) and Timis (215). In Arad and Caras-Severin, there are fewer licensed training organisations: 108 institutions in Arad and just 90 in Caraş-Severin. The main specialisations offered by licensed suppliers are in the field of food and hospitality industry, textile industry, constructions and installations, personal care, commerce, human resources, sales, real estate, and quality management. Many trainers also provide introductory PC usage and data entry courses and English courses, and training for security agents.
