Romania is a leader in attracting foreign investments started from zero

According to the " Global Investment Report " elaborated by the "United Nations Conference for Trade and Development" (UNCTAD , 2011 edition) Romania is situated on the first place in the Central and Eastern Europe region concerning the value of Greenfield foreign investments  in the first four months of the year, with 5.204 billion dollars.

The next ranks are occupied by  Poland  (3.13 billion dollars), Slovakia (2.8 billion dollars), Bulgaria (2.15 billion dollars), The Czech Republic (1.76 billion dollars) and Hungary (1.17 billon dollars).

Regarding the number of Greenfield  projects developed in January - April  2011, Romania is situated  on the second place in the Central -Eastern Europe region with 73 projects after Poland with 89 projects.

Last year Romania developed 218 Greenfield projects and in 2009, 204 projects. The highest number  of  projects  were developed by the United Kingdom (290), Germany (143), France (93).

At a global level,  the UNCTAD report shows that China and Hong Kong are situated on the second and the fourth place  regarding the destination of foreign investments which were last year, 175 billion dollars.
