The Ernst & Young G20 Entrepreneurship Barometer

05/09/2013

In 2012, entrepreneurs supplied 67% of the jobs in Europe. With countries across Europe facing challenging economic conditions and high levels of unemployment, the vital contribution of entrepreneurs as creators of jobs and drivers of growth is now more important than ever. The EY G20 Entrepreneurship Barometer 2013, launched today, is a powerful resource to help countries build and foster a supportive entrepreneurial environment.

The Barometer is based on a survey of over 1,500 leading entrepreneurs across the G20 countries, combined with a range of quantitative indicators, to rank each of the nations on the level of support it provides for entrepreneurs across five pillars that are key to any robust entrepreneurial ecosystem.

It is complemented by a wealth of best practices and initiatives that countries can adapt to their own specific circumstances. EY obtained insights from more than 250 entrepreneurs, independent academics and experts, and EY partners, as well as exploring more than 200 government leading practices across the G20.

EY is delighted to support the European Employment Forum and we look forward to discussing the findings of the report in Brussels in November. We hope the report contributes to the critical debate on job creation and encourages dialogue between policy makers, entrepreneurs and corporations.
