"InnoMatch" Regional Innovation Fair, April 3rd - 4th 2013, at Expo Arad International

The Regional Innovation Fair "InnoMtach" - The Story

The first edition of the "InnoMatch" Regional Innovation Fair, a success for West Region
Over 650 people took part in the first edition of "InnoMatch" Regional Innovation Fair held during April 3rd-4th, 2013 at Expo Arad International.
The fair, organized in partnership with the West RDA, Tehimpuls - The Regional Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer, The Innovation Agency from Szeged, Fraunhofer IPA (The Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA in Stuttgart) and the two clusters of the West Region - Automotivest Regional Cluster and the regional Information and Communications Technology cluster, had 47 stands presenting 97 innovative products and best practices demonstrations for visitors and participants.
Those who visited the fair were able to see 3D printers and products made with 3D printers, irrigation systems based on solar energy, greenhouse models that support themselves, pasteurized liquid egg, proposals for lowering heating costs for homes based on the use of solar energy and software solutions to improve the quality of life.
The Conference consisted of presentations, good practice shows and discussion panels, having the role to facilitate the exchange of information between participants and representatives of central and local government, business representatives, representatives of academia and research organizations and other key actors in the innovation field. Also, participants could be able to identify potential collaborators and establish different partnerships between the business environment and research organizations. Participants with innovative ideas could also find more information about sources of financing for their innovative projects.
Within the 6 Discussion panels there were discussions on:
- o Information and Communication Technology
- o Innovation Infrastructure
- o Innovation Financing and Intellectual Property Rights
- o Clusters
- o Automotive
- o Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies Sources.
The abovementioned sessions, in addition to the large number of media representatives and experts in the field of ICT, clusters, automotive, energy efficiency and renewable energies, agro-food were attended by the representatives of World Bank, European Commission, ERNACT, S3 Smart Specialization Platform, allover more than 300 attendees.
The Good practice shows were also delight to the wider public, being held by representatives of Microsoft Romania, Alcatel Lucent Romania, ELI-HU Nonprofit Ltd. - Extreme Light Infrastructure, Livestock, Stratasys GmbH - partner of NUTechnologies, ERNACT, Digital Geek, Innovation Norway.
The event finished with "InnoImpuls"- Innovative Products Competition, where the best innovative products, services and technologies were awarded.

For almost 15 years, since the creation of the eight development regions in Romania, West Regional Development Agency is in charge of the regional development policy design and implementation in West Romania. During this period, West RDA managed pre-accession funds, national funding programmes and currently the Regional Operational Programme.
Furthermore, West RDA's portfolio of competencies encompasses regional policy design, attraction of FDIs, project development, cluster management for the automotive and ICT sectors, internationalisation and, last but not least, innovation. In this respect, West RDA developed, with EU funds, the first Regional Innovation Strategy in Romania during 2002-2004, and then constantly updated and monitored the process, developing pilot projects along the way.
Consequently, Tehimpuls - Regional Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre was the first pilot project of the Regional Innovation Strategy, created in 2006 with the mission to increase the competitiveness of our region's economy by facilitating the cooperation between businesses and universities, as well as RTDI organizations.
In this context, we are glad to announce the First Edition of the "InnoMatch" Regional Innovation Fair which will take place on April 3rd-4th 2013, at Expo Arad International.
The "InnoMatch" Regional Innovation Fair is co-organized by West Regional Development Agency and Tehimpuls in partnership with Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing, Engineering and Automation and supported by the Automotivest and the ICT Regional Clusters.
The "InnoMatch" Regional Innovation Fair will benefit from the presence of World Bank, European Commission and Smart Specialisation Platform representatives, and will provide an exchange platform for a wide range of regional, national and international partners coming from ministries, companies, universities, RTDI organizations, public administrations and other innovation stakeholders. Moreover, it will bring to the scene a mix of exhibition stands, thematic panels, matchmaking sessions, presentations of good practices and an awards ceremony for the most innovative solutions showcased.
