Honeywell - a global leader in gas sensors officially announces its participation in a leading international consortium, which aims to develop innovative solutions for gas detectors operating at high temperature. Honeywell Romania joined seven other European partners, companies, universities and research institutes, joining forces with scientists, engineers, technicians, researchers and world-renowned teachers. The project, scheduled to run until August 2014, is financed mainly by the European Union, the 7th Framework Program for Research and Technological Development (FP7 ICT).

In this project, called Smart Silicon-on-Insulator Systems Operating at High Temperature Sensing (SOI HITS - http://www.soi-hits.eu/), consortium members will develop electronic interfaces with embedded sensors, able to work in hostile environments at high temperatures. The approach is a scientific challenge, given the known limitations of sensors, control electronics and conventional encapsulation solutions.

Honeywell Romania will be responsible for designing and testing the sensor system that will represent the final product of the project. It will also be involved in the design and manufacture of the individual gas sensors, and of the numerical simulation of sensors.

The other members of consortium are: Microsemi, Cambridge CMOS Sensors, University of Cambridge, Cissoid,  IREC, Université Catholique de Louvain, University of Warwick.
