Croatia signed the Treaty of Accession to the EU. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania congratulates the Croatian authorities

Croatia signed the Treaty of Accession to the European Union, which will be approved by referendum in 2012, for an effective accession in July 2013.

The 27 European leaders gathered in Brussels initialed the accession treaty alongside the Croatian Prime Minister, Jadranka Kosor and the President, Ivo Josipovic. Signing of the Treaty takes place after 20 years of Croatian independence.

Romanian diplomacy encourages the continuing reform of the candidate and aspiring countries as a way to accelerate towards the EU.
