CEZ buys the accumulation lakes around Resita

CEZ Romania SA, member of CEZ Group, Czech Republic, has completed the acquisition of Caras-Severin hydro-power system, near Resita, buying 100% of the Hydroenergy TMK Power LLC stake, a statement recently issued by the company said. "This new acquisition is in line with CEZ policy to focus on core business already operating in different countries and, moreover, is positioned in the area of renewable energy," reads the release. The new company acquisitioned by CEZ own four lakes with dams (Three Waters, Gozna, Valiug, Secu), and four micro water power plants - Crainicel I Crainicel II, Grebla and Breazova. Total installed capacity is about 18 MW. Installed capacity of each unit is less than 10 MW. Currently, CEZ operates 240 MW of installed capacity of the first phase of the wind farm project in Dobrogea. After completion of the entire project, the wind farm will have 600 MW installed capacity and will be the largest onshore wind farm in Europe. CEZ Group is one of the leading manufacturers, energy suppliers and distributors in Europe, both in terms of operational capabilities and in terms of number of clients served. CEZ Group is a key player in the electricity market in Central Europe and is the second largest electricity exporter in Europe. The group is present on the Romanian market since 2005, took over the distribution company Electrica Oltenia SA, which after the transformation, ensure power supply of seven counties: Arges, Dolj, Gorj, Mehedinti, Olt, Teleorman Vâlcea .
