The village Dudestii Noi could become the first green village in Romania

Date: 19/04/2010

Dudestii Noi village in Timis County could use electricity from alternative sources, in about 2 years. The Mayor, Mr. Alin Nica, wants to build a park of solar panels with the generated power of 2.5 MWh to produce the necessary electricity for the public lighting and for local services.

For the moment this idea is just a project. "The Green Village" will have a surface of 4 hectares and a value of 10 million euro. If the project will be financed using EU funds, the village is the first and the only village in Romania using only green electricity for the public administration buildings, public lightning and water and sewage network.. The extra energy will be loaded into the national system and ENEL (power carrier and producer company) will pay for this as to any producer.

Only in Romanian. More info you can read here.
