220 million euro state aid for SMEs

The companies affected by crisis can turn to a new temporary state aid scheme recently approved by the European Commission, so they can receive up to 500,000 euro.

The scheme addresses to economic agents who were not in difficulty in early July 2008. The aim is to maintain the existing jobs and to support the modernization and business development of the companies. Companies from all activity fields can apply for this aid, but not those in the fishing and aquaculture sector and the primary production sector of agricultural products. Other conditions are: the company must have an operational past of at least three years, no debts to the state budget or to the state social insurance and not to be bankrupt or in liquidation.

The Ministry for SMEs, will provide this aid as grants amounting to maximum 250,000 euro (equivalent in lei) for micro-enterprises and maximum 500,000 euro for SMEs.
