West Region economy continues to grow

The economic developments in the first seven months of the year in the four counties, components of the West Region, according to the latest statistical newsletter are similar.

Industry - compared to the same period last year, in three counties has registered a growth of about 4-5 percent (Arad, Caras-Severin and Timis), in Hunedoara county the industrial production decreased by 1.6 per percent. The value indices of the turnover in industry increased compared to the same period in 2011, with 17.5 percent in Arad, 15.6 in Timis, 10.6 in Hunedoara and 5.5 percent in Caras-Severin.

In the first five months of 2012, the exports in the West Region were of 2.98 billion Euro, of which Timis - 1.72 billion and imports of 2.54 billion Euro.

In July 73.910 tourists arrived in West Region Romania (25.793 in Timis).

Salaries and unemployment - Most of the employees were registered in Timis County, 214.932 people. Of these, 5.354 workers are employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing, 93.864 in industry and construction and 115.714 are working in services.

The gross average earning was of 2.028 lei in Arad, 1.608 in Caras-Severin, 1.773 in Hunedoara and 2.075 lei in Timis, and the net of 1484 lei in Arad, 1177 lei in Caras-Severin, 1.282 lei in Hunedoara and 1516 lei in Timis.

In West Region were registered at the end of July, 28.545 unemployed, of which 5597 in Timis County, which has the lowest unemployment rate of 1.7 percent.

In July, there were issued 332 construction authorizations of which 195 in Timis County.
