West Regional Development Agency organized a study visit regarding renewable energy in West Region

West Regional Development Agency has organized during 21-22 September 2011 a study visit regarding the renewable energy.

The study visit aimed to identify solutions for improving the energy efficiency in residential and public buildings and also to promote the most representative examples of buildings and the best practices developed in West Region, concerning renewable energy, thus facilitating study visits to City Business Center and ICER - The Institute for Research and Renewable Energy in Timisoara.

Within the same event, it also took place a workshop entitled "The Energy efficiency of Buildings" which was attended by representatives of the local administration, of the economic environment and faculties in the region and by representatives of the partner organizations in the CO2Free project: Colm McColgan - president of ERNACT (The Network of the European Regions in Communications Technologies) (Ireland), Jouko Parviainen - Project Manager in Joensuu Regional Development Agency (Finland) and Colm McClements - ECORYS Consultant/Lideea (Ireland).

The visit took place within the CO2Free, INTEREG IVC project - Cooperation to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency - project implemented by a consortium of 10 organizations from 8 European countries (Ireland, United Kingdom, Sweden, Bulgaria, Spain, Austria, Finland and Romania). West Regional Development Agency is the only organization in Romania, partner in this consortium.

Through the CO2Free project, during 2010 - 2012, West Region benefits of expertise from some European organizations that have developed practices in areas such as: renewable energy, energy efficiency and transports. Also, within this project there will be developed action plans that will address the concepts of energy efficiency and sustainable transport and will be implemented in future development programs financed by the Structural Funds.
