The Foreign Minister, Teodor Baconschi confirms that a new IBM Center will be opened in Romania

The Foreign Minister officially announced the opening of a new IBM Center in Romania. IBM Romania has two offices, three international centers (two in Bucharest and one in Brasov) and another innovation center in Bucharest. The company had last year businesses of 54.4 million euro and a net income of 11 million euro according to the Ministry of Finance.

IBM had 1.400 employees last year in Romania and if they'll open a new center, it will be the biggest IT employer in the local market. The company management wishes that until the end of this year to reach 3.600 employees. About 3.000 employees will work in the Global Business Operation Center. 

The economic relations between Romania and USA are developing based on the Treaty of 1992. On 30 November 2010, the commercial trade volume between the two countries was of 1.328 billion dollars.

Beyond the economic relations, USA invested in Romania in other forms. Thus, through the "Support for East European Democracies" program, USA offered Romania a non-reimbursable assistance of about 600 million dollars.
