TMD Friction Romania SA - project coordonated by TMG Romania and assisted by West RDA
TMD Friction is the world's largest manufacturer of brake friction materials, employing 3,800 people, who are dedicated to producing 1 million brake friction products per day. 13 production sites in nine countries and three continents are complemented by R&D centers in Leverkusen (Germany), Troy (USA) and Indaiatuba (Brazil).
In 2006, TMD Friction representatives and Mr. Derek Whitworth - CEO, came to West Region Romania, visiting several locations with public land promoted by RDA West Romania. At the time, two locations were taken into consideration and the Caransebes one was chosen as best positioned for the new investment project.
The Caransebes factory has a built area of 14400 mp on a land surface of 67500 mp and is located at the exit to Otelu Rosu (Hateg). With an initial investment of 10 milion Euro, TMD Friction factory from Caransebes is nevertheless one of the most important production sites in Caras - Severin County.
